About Us

The Greenville Housing Authority’s (GHA) mission is to provide safe, decent and sanitary housing conditions for very low-income families and to manage resources efficiently. The Public Housing Authority (PHA) is to promote personal, economic and social upward mobility to provide families the opportunity to make the transition from subsidized to non-subsidized housing.

We strive to partner with other organizations in order to bring needed services to all participants in our community.

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program assists families with paying their rent to private owners of apartments and houses. The program is funded by the federal government through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Section 8 Program utilizes private property owners in providing affordable, decent, safe and sanitary housing to eligible participants.

As Vouchers become available, families are chosen from the waiting list based on the date and time order in which they applied for assistance.
